Poor pig. Fun and interesting story, Ann. I hadn’t heard it before. I’ve been absent from the blogging world recently so I have missed your moving story. Where to? My husband and I both took new teaching positions for next school year in Wisconsin. Getting the family and pets ready to move and the house ready to sell has been… a lot. (Which I’m sure you can empathize with- we didn’t have to downsize as much as I’m sure you must have to go full-time on the road! How exciting!)
Lots of goodbyes coming in the next couple of weeks- I moved out here right out of college. But, we’re looking forward to lots of “hellos” on the other side, too, and being in driveable distance to family.

Thank you Curt- I appreciate the kind words. I’m at the point of just staring at piles of stuff and wondering “Can I just trash this? Do I have to sort it? I suppose I have to sort… maybe I can go fill some more nail holes instead…”

It’s the last part of packing that is always the hardest, Anne, at least to me. What to do with all of the little, and big, piles. I did find that using a pod helped. When I filled a box I could load in into the pod. Out of sight, out of mind. And then the old was full… 🙂

I feel that, Curt. Started culling some piles yesterday, which was satisfying!
Agreed- PODS are great, but whew it’s not hard to fill them! It’s nuts how things accumulate.

This was excellent. I have been to San Juan Island, but have visited the camps. While there on a whale watching tour, I did learn of the “Pig War”, but your account was closed so much more detailed. Thank you so much. And by the way, I just finished your book, “Where Shall I Flee?”. I loved it; it was absolutely excellent. Thanks again.
