Psssst! Do You Wanna See My Book’s Cover?

book baby

A friend and I recently talked about how producing a book is a little like having a child.

There’s the desire to do everything right and the worry over all the things that could go wrong with this bit of creation you’ve gotten to be a part of.

There’s the fear of letting go, of just what will happen when “your baby” comes into contact with the outside the world. (What if it doesn’t get along well with others?)

Of course, while the nerve wracking publishing process and all of the decisions it entails has me practicing lots of deep, calming breaths, no one’s going to offer an epidural. 😉

In spite of nerves and in spite of a few technical difficulties along the way, Whom Shall I Fear? is set to launch on Friday, June 28.

Thanks to the lovely and talented author and artist Amanda Ruehle (whose books can be found here, and whose other projects can be found here) the e-book and paperback are formatted, and, today, I have a cover to share with you all!

Here’s the back-cover blurb.

1943

All that Sergeant James Milburn wants is to heal. Sent to finish his convalescence in a lonely village in the north of England, the friends he’s lost haunt his dreams. If he can only be declared fit for active service again, perhaps he can rejoin his surviving mates in the fight across Sicily and either protect them or die alongside them.

All that Evie Worther wants is purpose. War has reduced her family to an elderly matriarch and Charles, her controlling cousin, both determined to keep her safely tucked away in their family home. If she can somehow balance her sense of obligation to family with her desperate need to be of use, perhaps she can discover how she fits into her tumultuous world.

All that Charles Heatherington wants is his due.  Since his brother’s death, he is positioned to be the family’s heir with only one step left to make his future secure. If only he can keep the family matriarch happy, he can finally start living the easy life he is certain he deserves.

However, when James’s, Evie’s and Charles’s paths collide, a dark secret of the past is forced into the light, and everything that they have hoped and striven for is thrown into doubt.

Weaving in historical detail from World War II in Britain, Italy and Egypt, Whom Shall I Fear? follows their individual struggles with guilt and faith, love and family, and forces them to ask if the greatest threat they face is really from the enemy abroad.

While my official launch date will be June 28th, as of yesterday, the e-book is available for pre-order on Amazon.

In celebration of the book’s birthday, I’m planning some “party games” and hosting a giveaway with a chance to win one of three prizes.  Naturally, the prizes include some interesting  little historical artifacts I found…

The chances to win start next Thursday, June 20th. I’ll post information to my Facebook page, my Twitter account, and, of course, here on my blog.

I hope you’ll stop by!
